Description and other notes:
Discovery Peak, at 3840', is the highest point in Alameda County, taller than Rose Peak by 23'. There is no public access to it but it doesn't occupy private property either. A couple of antennas have been placed there, and it's known that hikers have been allowed access to it. One more point of interest of the hike is that Murietta Falls, dry for 9-10 months of the year, has water in it usually in January-March, yet the weather is not rainy and trails, though covered by ice sheets in places, not too muddy.

Many small lakes can be seen along the trail.
Hikers are asked to stay inside Ohlone Regional Wilderness. Discovery Peak is 0.5 miles away from the park's border.

The area is dry for 9-10 months a year. All these lakes are dependent on the rain in winter.
