Snacks
The basic idea: You want something easy to eat while walking, high protein, and high carb.

Suggestions:
GORP - Good Old Raisins and Peanuts (throw in M&Ms too!)
Dried Fruit
Energy bars
Candy bars
Apples
Baby carrots
Cookies
Fig Newtons
Beef jerky

Tip: If you wrap your snacks in foil, you can pour them in your mouth and keep your filthy hands off of them!

Breakfast
The basic idea: You want something quick and easy. Think about whether or not you'll feel like boiling water in the morning before you begin hiking.

Suggestions:
Oatmeal - bring powdered milk, raisins, and/or cinnamon to spice it up
Bagels and peanut butter

Lunch
The basic idea: Choose something dense that will still taste good if it gets crushed in your bag! If you'll have a stove with you and are trying to cut down on weight, consider bringing an item from the dinner list instead.

Sugestions:
Tortillas, Pitas, Naan, or Middle Eastern flat bread
with Pesto, hummus, cheese, peanut butter

Pre-made PBJ sandwiches

Dinner
The basic idea: Pick something lightweight, dense in protein and carbs, and quick cooking to cut down on the required fuel.

Sugestions:
Powdered soups dense in nutrients, like split pea
Ramen
Angel hair pasta with powdered fetuccine sauce and powdered milk, add sundried tomatoes for extra flavor
Instant mashed potatoes with sausage (bring dried sausage or salami, or bring frozen sausage and eat the first or second day)
Burritos - dehydrated beans, cheese, peppers and onions in a tortilla

Dessert

Of course, no dinner is complete without dessert.

There's the traditional s'mores, if you can start a campfire and roast the marshmallows.
(For those of you who don't know, that's graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows in a sandwich)

There's also Jell-o No Bake Cheesecake - super yummy!

Drinks

Bring tea, hot cocoa, apple cider, tang, instant coffee, or other powdered drinks along!
